Graduate Legal Assistant – Structured Derivatives recruitment
The SD Team is part of the Group Legal Department of Société Générale, London Branch (SGLB) and provides legal advice to the SG Global Markets, Cross-Asset Solutions business (MARK/SOL). MARK/SOL provides a range of services – advisory, structuring, asset management – for clients interested in complex equities, fixed income, FX and commodities investments. The SD Team provides legal and regulatory analysis involving the review of documentation and structures involving complex derivative based structures, particularly for structured notes issued by existing SG vehicles, (with various pay-offs developed by the SG MARK/SOL structuring team) as well as for clients and new entities.
The team is looking for a graduate legal assistant who is self-motivated, with a "can do" attitude and excellent writing skills to support them in their day to day activities, and internal projects, and to contribute to the development of internal know-how materials. The graduate legal assistant would sit on the trading floor with the SD Team.
Main responsibilities
- Review, preparation and negotiation of confidentiality agreements, Master Distribution Agreements and Introduction Broker Agreements and related documentation to be entered into by SG (as recipient or provider of information)
- Assist the team lawyers with the preparation of amendment agreements such as Deeds of Amendments, reviewing disclaimers and ensuring compliance with SGCIB’s standard PAN EEA set of disclaimers relating to the various SPV’s
- Follow up on any internal and external legal queries.
- Undertake our legal research and/or projects for the SD Team
- Update and maintain existing internal precedents
- Arrange execution of corporate documents and powers of attorney as required (including delegations by power of attorney)
- Assist the SD Team with internal programme updates relating to the SPV issuances, projects and systems
- Other transactional and administrative support as required e.g. checking conditions precedent and post-closing matters
- The graduate legal assistant will report to the Head of the SD Team
Candidate Profile
Education
- University Graduate
- Demonstrable interest in and aptitude for an English legal career (e.g. complettion of GDL or LPC or other professional equivalents)
Skills
- Fluency in English
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint)
- Willingness to learn relevant SG internal systems
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility
