JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Full-time position available with Meridian Enterprises Corporation, an innovator of incentive and loyalty programs and travel services since 1978.  Our employees provide quality service with accurate and timely completion of travel arrangements. The Group Air Specialist must be self-motivated and able to work independently while performing on a team in a fast paced environment. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for all aspects of routing, booking, faring, and ticketing of scheduled air arrangements for all group participants requiring airline reservations or assistance with travel extensions for incentive travel programs and meetings.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

·        Route air travel for passengers based upon program specifications.

·        Complete air reservations based upon airline fares established by contracts for each program.

·        Assist passengers with extension arrangements before or after the travel program dates which may include the booking of trains, cars, and hotels.             

·        Build and maintain name manifests for charter flights in conjunction with travel programs.

·        Remain “on call” during program operations to assist passengers who have experienced en route flight delays or may need to leave the program early due to a medical or other reason.

·        Monitor group block air space to avoid penalties and ensure profitability of travel programs.

·        Compile and maintain air travel reports and all information necessary to assist Travel Program Managers and travel staff who may be on-site during program operation.

·        Answer incoming calls to Travel Headquarters.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

       Experience: 

 

·        3+ years as group travel or corporate travel agent. 

·        Leisure travel experience desired.

 

       Competencies:

 

·        Strong proficiency with SABRE computer reservation system; airline reservations systems experience considered.

·        Domestic and international travel destination knowledge.

·        Proficiency in use of MS Windows, Word and Excel.

·        Ability to effectively manage several concurrent travel programs.

·        Ability to accurately book reservations.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

·        First class customer service skills.

·        Professional phone manner with courteous diplomacy and tact.

 

Education: 

 

Other Requirements: 

 

·        “On call” availability during travel program operations.

·        Ability to work overtime when required.
