Job Summary: Provides leadership to staff who manage the sales and services products (Life, Dental, Disability) directly to Group clients or through broker/consultant relationships. Maintain strong relationships with clients to resolve issues and maintain the sales relationship.
Functional Responsibilities: Reports to a Senior Sales Leader, directs Institutional direct sales activities for a territory/product line.
• Accountable for building and managing a sales team to increase market share in their designated marketplace by leading the profitable growth of new business, retaining current business and by strategic and tactical account management.
• Increases business growth by communicating and educating, identifying opportunities, and removing barriers for direct sales staff.
• Develops, recommends, and monitors sales and marketing plans and budgets for assigned region.
• Manages and develops personnel who sell directly to specific regions, providing support to develop and maintain strong relationships within assigned client base.
• Develops business plans and directly manages assigned direct sales management personnel.
• May identify training needs and develop and/or deliver training programs.
• Often turns senior management vision into project plan and implementation strategy; ensures integration with other project plans, leverages available technology solutions.
• Performs need assessments and procures required internal and external resources.
• Communicates project plans, strategies, priorities, and business benefits.
• Develops and monitors budgets.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Full people management responsibilities, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development.
