Credit policy strengthens Fitch’s credit analysis and research, by undertaking timely and in-depth research, challenging the conventional analytical wisdom and coordinating cross-group projects and training.

All credit policy’s efforts are ultimately designed to improve Fitch’s criteria and credit analysis. The main channels for this are alternative analytical views provided by Regional and Group Credit Officers, publication of research to shape Fitch’s views and Fitch’s Credit Academy to improve the quality of Fitch’s analysts. Each of these efforts  are designed to shape and disseminate Fitch’s views,  and monitor ratings performance.

Overall aims of the Credit Policy Group:

1. Ensure Fitch's ratings are timely and robust

2. Oversee rigorous criteria

3. Provide additional perspective through thought-provoking research and participation

Job Description:

We are currently have an open position for a Group Credit Officer at Senior Director level within Fitch's Credit Policy Group who will be responsible for evaluating Fitch's rating activity of EMEA based banks and non-bank financial institutions.

As a Group Credit Officer (GCO), you will work closely with Fitch Financial Institutions rating team.  The scope of activities in working with the rating team are aimed at ensuring analytical processes are appropriate to execute on rating decisions in a timely and thorough manner.

This will involve participation in rating committees, working on topical research reports and analyzing rating trends and key risk drivers.  You will also play a primary role in the evaluation, approval and usage of rating criteria employed by the financial institutions rating team.

The GCO will also work closely with other members of Fitch's Credit Policy Group to detect emerging risks in capital markets, debt products and macroeconomic trends.  The GCO will evaluate these risks, quantify their importance to the rating of financial institutions and incorporate such into the analytical framework used to rate the entities.

Finally, the GCO will need to manage a set of data and metrics to inform other members of Credit Policy and the senior management team of Fitch of rating trends, key risks and emerging rating factors within the Financial Institutions portfolio.

Person Specification:

Well developed understanding of the evaluation of financial institutions.

Strong knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework for banks and financial institutions.

Concise and message driven writing skills.

Ability to synthesize vast amounts of data and isolate key trends and emerging factors.

Strong oral communication skills.

Ability to work well in small teams and work to consensus opinions

Ability to work independently to source unique and insightful views to enhance the analytical process.
