Group Insurance Operational Risk Senior Manager

Overall Job Purpose
- Be accountable to business units (BU) as assigned by Director, Group Insurance, setting the insurance strategy and for delivering advice, support and challenge on all matters relating to corporate insurances with particular focus around operational risk issues relating to insurance cover.

- Execute process, transactions projects for the UK EMEA and be accountable to the Director, Group Insurance for delivery of services for all BU operating in the UK EMEA as well as assigned global projects

- Support the Director, Group Insurance by contributing to the strategy, direction and development of "One Insurance".

- Be responsible for monitoring conformance with the "One Insurance" operating model for transactions and projects in the UK EMEA.

Relationship Management remit:
- Develop and maintain the strategy for the introduction and maintenance of the new insurance framework across the Region. Identify key stakeholders and lead the transition to the new world.

- Be responsible for monitoring conformance with the (revised) Group Insurance Contracts Governance Policy by all Business Units across the Region. Provide expert guidance, support and advice to all Business Units on all aspects of the Policy.

Technical skills and competencies
- First rate understanding of Operational Risk and use of Insurance or other risk transfer solutions to mitigate post-event financial outcome.
- Proven investigative and analytical skills including problem solving and innovation.
- Good ability to absorb information from a wide range of sources internal or external to the Group and evaluate and use it in Group risk contexts.
- Relationship management skills both in relation to relevant internal stakeholders and external brokers and insurers.
Knowledge and expertise
- Detailed knowledge of Operational risks and Insurance for banks, investment banks or other financial institutions, including the ability to identify, analyze and assess key risk exposures and identify potential insurance mitigants.
- Detailed understanding of the main classes of corporate insurances for financial institutions including underwriting criteria, insurance policy structures, definitions, policy wordings and exclusions.
- Proven expertise in stakeholder management.
- Excellent data recording and analysis with high PC literacy in documents and spreadsheets.
- Awareness of Basle IIl and its implications for operational risk-insurance mitigation.
- Relevant experience with an insurance division of a large finor commercial organisation involved with or managing global insurance programmes or an insurance company or insurance broker.
