GSS Technology – Analyst Developer – VP recruitment

The Global Securities Services group (GSS), is a fast paced technology driven business area, with a long track record of sustained growth within Goldman Sachs and the industry.

GSS Technology comprises of five areas: Prime Clearing Client Technology, Prime Clearing Operations, Stock Lending, Risk/Margin Financing, Goldman Sachs Execution Clearing (GSEC). This role within the Prime Clearing Operations Gemini team offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the success of GSS and also offers significant opportunities for long term career growth and the chance to develop technical, business and leadership skills with exposure to a broad range of products and business flows. 
          

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in requirements, design, and development phases of projects with hands-on development and project management responsibilities
• Work closely and build strong relationships with Operations and Business users to gather requirements and design solutions
• Maintain development team efficiency and consistency of approach across global projects within the platform
• Communicate regular status updates on project progress and upcoming milestones to management
• Work closely with other technology teams to identify requirements, design and implement technology solutions to facilitate inter-system communication
• Coverage of user queries and critical production issues     

DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS

This role is an excellent opportunity to get involved in and drive strategic initiatives in the Prime Clearing Operations team focusing on the new strategic Listed Derivatives trade and position management platform (Gemini).

The candidate will gain a detailed understanding of the architecture, technologies and software development lifecycle used at Goldman Sachs. The candidate will be able to contribute to the real-time strategic architecture and build-out of our applications to provide scalable and effective software for our business teams. They will also be able to partner with other project managers and technologists within the global team to both learn from others and to influence the future direction of our platform.

The candidate will build a strong relationship with Operations and Business users to develop a detailed knowledge of the Listed Derivatives business and clearing flows across futures, options, and other derivative asset classes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience working in a comparable environment
• Project management experience preferably with global team interactions
• Hands on experience with object-oriented programming in Java and database software development including methodologies, best practices, and test-driven development
• Relational database experience - e.g. IBM UDB, Sybase
• Highly motivated, organized, strong analytical/problem solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a high paced environment and under tight deadlines
• Other skills – Spring, Hibernate, JMS
          
PREFERRED

• Experience of trade processing or derivatives lifecycle management will be an advantage but not essential
• Experience of C#
• Experience with continuous integration systems (e.g. Hudson, TeamCity)
• Effective communication skills – experienced working with both technologists and business teams with an ability to communicate technical concepts in a business friendly way
