Description
The incumbent will be the cross divisional head of the Audit team forAustraliaandNew Zealand, as well as the overall Australia Country Audit Coordinator covering the firms Investment Banking, Wealth Management and Asset Management businesses in these locations.
The successful applicant will oversee the cross divisional audit coverage inAustraliaand supervise a team of 5 auditors based inSydney. The Head of Audit will be the Country coordinator and represent GIA ANZ on all cross divisional matters to the Country CEO and COO and represent GIA at the local Cross Divisional Governance Committees, and represent GIA to the various local regulators. The person will form part of the Investment Banking Regional Audit Management Team and report directly to the Regional Head of Audit based in Singapore. The person will also work closely with regional Wealth Management and Asset Management Audit heads.
Requirements
Professional Experience, Professional Qualifications and Strategic Perspective
- At least 15 years of experience in the financial services sector with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role
- Has a deep understanding of the financial industry and has worked for a global financial group.
- Has a detailed understanding of the Australian regulatory environment
- Has an understanding of UBS business activities, inherent risks and risk / revenue drivers.
- Has multi-year audit experience in a senior management role (risk / compliance / COO roles also are relevant)
- Strong academic / professional qualifications
- Can challenge and also drive with the audit team the overall risk assessments, detailed planning, audit work and conclusions
Leadership Experience / Leadership Style
- Has been a successful manager for a number of years, including managing a team of various backgrounds and skill sets.
- Strong coaching and development skills and prepared to be hands on
- Has been able to attract, retain and develop talent in his/her previous roles
Communication and Impact
- Convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly
- Effective negotiation skills, proactive and “no Surprises” approach in communicating audit results, strength in sustaining independent views, and ability to work effectively at the highest levels of the organization.
- Can represent GIA in industry groups.
Judgment and Decision Making / Work Style
- Needs to be quick thinker, learner and decision maker and has a strong ability to be risk focused
- Needs a strong continuous improvement mentality and willingness to admit mistakes and learn from them
