Head of Central Compliance recruitment

Leading banking organisation is looking for a Head of Central Compliance to join their London team.

Duties include:

Deputise for COO as appropriate;
Liaison with internal and external counsel and regulatory bodies;
Undertake transversal projects as assigned by the COO and/or Head of UK Compliance;
Ensure that at country level the Compliance procedures, systems and controls are up to date and effective, and to identify / facilitate remedial action where necessary;
Ensure all reporting processes and requirements at country level are fulfilled;
Take a leading role in the preparation for regulatory inspections and meetings;
Liaison with global and other pole Compliance functions as appropriate;
Prepare and coordinate ad hoc reports on Compliance developments as required;
Develop strong cross-pole working relationship with compliance colleagues;
Providing regulatory advice as required from time to time;
Advising the functions in the country regarding regulatory requirements and the integration and application of rules and regulations;
Oversee the day to day progress of internal investigations and regulatory inquiries.

Person Specification

Strong knowledge of UK and EU regulatory environment;
Previous experience of managing a multi-dimensional compliance function essential;
Strong practical relationship with the FSA;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills;
Investment and/ or Corporate Banking background;
The ability to influence and promote a strong compliance culture;
Cultural awareness and sensitivity;
Pro-active solution provider, proven collaborative skills;
Motivated self-starter with proven leadership skills and people management;
Ability to interface with a wide cross section of people and an understanding of project management;
Ability to deal across location boundaries;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Demonstrates a high level of diligence and attention to detail.
