Head of Corporate Banking

Job Purpose

The development of existing and new corporate banking and business flow to ensure achievement of strategy and annual and medium term budget targets without compromising the credit quality of the portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities Objectives

Grow the corporate banking and trade finance business in line with the policies of the Bank and in consultation with and subject to the approval of the senior management of the Bank.

Develop, gain approval for and implement the business, marketing and execution plans to meet targets on funded and non-funded business growth and profitability.

Identify and source new business opportunities / relationships through (a) direct bilateral contacts and (b) working with partner banks / institutions in the primary and secondary syndicated loan and bond markets

Monitor primary and secondary market developments for corporate/institutional issuers and make appropriate recommendation.

Manage relationships and transactions to benchmarked standards in terms of service and credit and product quality.

Identify and cross sell other Bank services/products (including Treasury, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Custodial and Clearing Services).

Gather and assimilate market intelligence and formulate where appropriate recommendations for proactive response to opportunities/threats to senior management.

Active involvement in product development by providing support to product specialists to ensure that the bank’s product and service offerings match/surpass the competition.

Manage the administrative aspects, documentation and regulatory/accounting issues pertaining to the sourcing, execution and ongoing monitoring of relationships and transactions, including managing the related requirements of the credit approval process.

 

Work closely with other IBG entities in providing leads for potential regional business opportunities; support where appropriate, the structuring of proposals; support and help achieve exposure sell-down requirements where required by Credit.

Provide training and guidance to more junior members of the team not only on  technical and credit issues but also to ensure a clear understanding of the bank’s culture, strategy and the expectations of the Bank’s management.

 

External Relationships 

Extensive contact with corporate clients and banks as well as with Trade and business associations (including Govt Depts),Export Credit Insurance Agencies and legal, insurance and industry advisors/specialists

 

 

Qualification Experience

Experience in a senior corporate banking role (either as a Senior Banker (transaction origination and execution/relationship management) or Team Leader.

Familiarity with Middle East and North Africa markets, including Turkey.

Tertiary qualifications in any financial discipline are an advantage, but not essential.
