Head of Debt/Bond/Mezzanine Fund Accounting
The Position
Due to continued growth, our client, a global investment management firm, has a rare opportunity for a senior candidate to join their Jersey operation in the Channel Islands, as Head of their Debt/Bond/Mezzanine Fund Accounting division. This firm enjoys an enviable reputation, both worldwide, and on the island, and due to continued growth, the firm is going through the next phase of its expansion. In this role, you will report directly into the Head of Fund Administration for the Channel Islands. The role has two direct reports, who in turn manage two separate teams. This role will have overall responsibility for both teams (c15 staff):
- Be responsible for the fund accounting and valuation services and management accounts provided to debt/bond fund clients of Funds Services in both Jersey and Guernsey.
- Prepare, supervise and control the accurate, efficient and timely delivery of all valuation and accounting functions and related tasks and reporting requirements in accordance with agreed KPIs.
- In relation to new business take on, assist with the review of Prospectuses, legal agreements, Business Acceptance Committee documentation pertaining to the launch of new funds and provide comments as necessary.
- In relation to new business, assist with the drafting and reviewing of Service Level Agreements incorporating measurable and meaningful KPIs.
- Be responsible for the timely preparation of financial reports for presentation to client companies’ boards and attend board meetings, as and when required.
- Be responsible for the timely preparation of quarterly financial statements for release to various stock exchanges as required.
- Be responsible for the timely preparation of statutory accounts for client funds and management companies in accordance with accounting policies.
- Be responsible for the reconciliation functions and ensure these are kept up to date and cleared on a timely basis.
- Be responsible for the collection/payment of fees/commissions and trailer fees on a timely basis.
- Be responsible for the satisfactory completion of all relevant regulatory returns
- Review and monitor existing business processes, procedures and checklists to maximise efficiency and productivity, ensuring the implementation of appropriate procedures in respect of any new business.
- Undertake staff appraisals and encourage individual personal development and training.
- Deputise for the Head of Fund Administration as required
Your Profile
The client is looking to meet with candidates who are ACCA/CA/ACA/CIMA qualified, and can demonstrate the following:
- Strong experience of managing staff handling the day to day administration of debt/bond/mezzanine funds to tight deadlines.
- An excellent working knowledge of fund valuations and accounting practices and standards, particularly IFRS, US GAAP.
- A strong working knowledge of offshore funds and the relevant legislation and regulations.
- Sound analytical skills.
- Excellent problem recognition and solving abilities.
- Familiar with funds services controls and procedures to ensure compliance and minimise risk.
- Excellent management, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Good client relationship management skills.
- Sound analytical skills coupled with an ability to identify problems quickly and provide appropriate solutions.
- Accuracy and ability to take responsibility.
- Ability to lead and develop teams.
