Head of Finance
Key requirements are the ownership of business financials; analysis and proactive advice in relation to business performance; the provision of strategic advice; intelligent challenge of business performance and proposals; strategic business planning and tracking; and for identifying any gaps in strategy; and for generally adding value in business performance.
In addition, the role is responsible for overseeing the key financial processes and deliverables that support the business, ensuring appropriate supervision, implementing required change and taking a ‘whole of business’ approach and responsibility to ensure that the business is operating effectively and risk is managed appropriately.
Ultimately the role holder must have a very strong grasp of the financial drivers and performance of the business and have the ability and attributes to act as the ‘right hand’ to the business head
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the Australian business strategic plan (as sponsored by the Australian Business Head) will be the primary responsibility of the Head of Finance. They will work with the Business Head in the formulation, execution and review of the strategic plan including objective setting and performance tracking (the latter including the preparation and analysis of management and other financial/performance reports as required).
- Provide business management with quality financial analysis, modelling, support, etc as needed to support business growth as envisaged in operational plan, and new business initiatives/projects
- Work closely with internal shared services functions and external outsource partners to ensure timely and accurate reporting and delivery
- Owning and/or, or heavily involved in deliverables such as monthly estimate, month end close, BCS , financial performance reporting, forecast and planning cycles, statutory accounts, assisted by shared finance teams where appropriate
- ‘Whole of business’ approach is imperative. Work closely with the business, COO and support areas and take ownership of cross functional issues and processes as relevant. Ensure there is ownership at the local level
- Ensure strong understanding of our reporting requirements, tax and accounting requirements, board, licence and compliance requirements and the role of various committees. Assume responsibility where relevant
- Support Group Finance both locally and offshore in the successful transition to the Finance Target Operating Model, including offshoring, minimising business impact and ensuring integrity of numbers remains intact
- Adhere to the principles underpinning the policies relevant to the role (e.g. operational risk policies, accounting policies etc).
- Enhance our front-to-back control framework and perform supervisory duties with a focus on risk identification and remediation in close cooperation with other areas as required.
Requirements
- CA or CPA qualified
- Indicative 10 -15 years' experience in financial services, preferably in asset management
- Demonstrated success in leading a Finance function well regarded
- Strong leadership character traits, and can add to overall business leadership team
- Experience with business strategy and an ability to provide strong strategic input, and to take leadership on specific initiatives including in the overall business sense
- Strong communicator
- Can effectively engage and build excellent relationships with all internal / external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability in managing complexity and multiple stakeholders and relationships
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability
