Head of Finance, EU
My client, an electronic trading firm, is consistently recognised as the industry leader in their field. With its extensive international trading networks, its clients include investment advisors, mutual funds, insurance companies, public and private pension funds, bank portfolio and hedge funds to name a few. Due to continued success they are looking to recruit an experienced Head of Finance who will make up part of the European management team.
The successful person will be responsible for the monthly financial close of two legal entities; monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, all budgeting, forecasting, actual comparison reporting and FSA reporting. You will be responsible for working closely with the company’s external and internal auditor, tax advisors and compliance consultants as well as working very closely with the UK management team and US Finance and HR teams.
Essential Duties Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the CFO, coordinate and administer and adequate plan for control of operations including, profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, together with the necessary controls and procedures to effectuate such plans.
- Responsible for all management reporting and legal statutory reporting.
- Manage and supervise two local accounting groups, ensuring the use of the proper accounting skills and cross training.
- Integration of a newly acquired entity, including migration of accounting systems and creating a single European accounting/finance function.
- Responsible for local general ledgers and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all accounts.
- Oversee the monthly close process, including billing, collections, fixed asset reporting and payroll reporting.
- Responsible for all treasury functions related to the local legal entities.
- Responsible for all ad hoc requests as required by the CFO, finance and HR teams.
To be considered for this role you will possess:
- A University degree
- 10 years of relevant experience, including 2 + years public accounting and 5+ years public company experience managing a group
- Strong accounting and financial management background with extensive knowledge of UK GAAP, US GAAP, including corporate tax and managerial experience with month end financial closes.
- A compliance background with knowledge of broker-dealer FSA reporting.
- Knowledge of financial markets, especially the credit markets (preferred)
- Experience with Great Plains preferred as well as advanced Excel skills
- Outstanding communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at every level of the business.
- A UK professional accountancy qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
