Project Unicorn is a global programme which will enable the transfer of assets and liabilities from RBS NV to RBS plc. Unicorn is significantly complex in APAC with business spanning approximately 150 legal entities and 9 countries. APAC Unicorn Programme requires strong leadership to deliver the transfer of branch assets and subsidiaries in Indonesia and Thailand in 2012.
Description:
This Role Exists to:
- Engage with the business and develop effective IT designs / solutions that address business requirements.
- Maximise ISAP Demand opportunities within RBSG Tolerances (Cost, Risk, Priority, Resource).
- Be the Single Point of Contact within RBSG for all key ISAP matters (other than Service Incidents) and communicate regularly / effectively with senior RBSG Management.
Activities: What does the jobholder have to do?
- Manage the overall Demand for Change from within RBSG (globally) affecting ISAP (this includes changes incurred due to Risk Remediation and where OS, Hardware, Database or Utility upgrades are needed due to ‘end of life’ or other external factor).
- Nurture / retain an appropriate resource / skill base that can respond to ISAP Demand as is needed to meet RBSG needs. • Nurture strong and effective relationships with the business stakeholders and any other parties required to best assure success.
- Nurture strong and effective relationships with TSI (and other key delivery parties if required e.g. HP).
- Oversee the delivery of effective designs / solutions (and options where warranted) within the ISAP Application Set ensuring that Risk, Audit and Regulatory requirement are fully met.
- Oversee internal / external technology providers / vendors drives the value proposition.
- Mobilise the necessary resources to fulfil Design activities and work with TSI (or other parties as needed) to ensure effective mobilisation of the Delivery resources.
- Ensure formal Design documentation is created and then retained in a safe / secure manner.
- Take accountability for all ISAP GDS delivery. • Contribute to the Strategic Direction of the ISAP Application Set (includes associated processes, resources and services) from a Technology perspective.
- Ensure Release Management is effective and does not negatively affect production services.
- Understand and manage down where possible the overall ‘cost of ISAP’. • In this instance ISAP also includes, Billing, GCAB, CLICC, FI, MI and CLS and any other ‘orphan’ components that require demand management so long as they are closely related to ISAP.
- Travel requirements: 10% but as is essentially required.
Key deliverables: What are the key outcomes and what does the jobholder have to produce (objectives)?
- Successful delivery of Technology functionality that meets the agreed to business requirement within the Scope, Budget, and Timeframes agreed as per TS Governance.
- Documented IT Designs / Solutions (and options where needed) in response to the agreed to Business Requirements.
- Designs and Solutions require:
- Sizing details (effort, Resource cost, Capital cost)
- Roadmap / Delivery Plan (Key Milestones)
- Key Risks / Issues that exist
- Prepare inputs for and successfully navigate IT Governance / Business Case processes (and contribute to Business Governance processes).
- Release Management processes including syndicated visibility of the next 12 months of commitments.
- Produces effective Management Information Communication for all Key Stakeholders (Business Technology partners). Covers Projects, Production Volumetrics, Service Incidents, Financials, Risks and People.
- Generally positive 360 and Stakeholder feedback. • In conjunction with TSI Manage 3rd party suppliers (HP) to provide effective and cost efficient service to RBS project delivery
- Senior business and IT engagement to ensure business and IT strategy are aligned Scope of Role: What decision is the job/ role responsible for?
- Designs for Globally originated Change Requests.
- Appropriateness of Designs.
- How change is scheduled within the Release Calendar.
- How priorities are set for the overall Demand work-stack.
- What environments need to exist to support the Demand.
People Management: What are the key responsibilities of the job/ role?
- Set out the long-term vision for the team.
- Encourage flexibility responsiveness to changes in the environment new ways of working.
- Set priorities accept / manage Issue Risk escalations from the team.
- Represent the team at relevant people boards / assessment reviews ensure all are mapped appropriately to the talent grid that succession plans are in place.
- Manage and develop the team by setting objectives including development plans perform frequent coaching and review sessions against these plans.
- As far as is possible be aware of and manage flight risks.
- If staff do not meet performance standards take appropriate measures.
- Be an effective role model in terms of work ethic and behaviours.
- Champion the team, give them authority and make them visible.
- Support RBSG’s chosen ‘suppliers’ and help them to be successful.
- Support internal teams, especially TSI and help them to be successful.
Financial Management: What are the key responsibilities of the job/ role?
- Manage rolling budget cycles.
- All projects managed within agreed budgets – provide project reporting that tracks IT costs.
- Make visible the Cost of IT for delivering production services.
- Control IT supplier costs.
- Manage the team budget.
- Understand the overall ISAP cost base and processes involved around costs and be a positive influence on it.
Experience: What previous experience is required to do this job/role?
Essential:
- Minimum 10 years technology experience (Project and Service Management).
- Minimum 10 years working in Transaction Services
- Minimum 10 years Project Management experience.
- Can demonstrate overall ISAP Expertise.
- Independent self sufficient leader requiring minimal management overhead.
- Led large projects and programmes.
- Familiar with the complexities involved in projects spanning multiple countries • Familiar with Recovery, Incident and Problem Management.
- Evidence of being a team player.
- Evidence of strong stakeholder management.
- Evidence of strong effective communication – written verbal. • A confident communicator – comfortable in public forums (workshops, presentations, etc).
- Managed change teams across Project Management, PMO, BAs, Architects, Testers Infrastructure.
- Considered a leader in the field of Change Management.
- Worked with geographically culturally disparate virtual project teams.
