Head of Operational Risk – Banking recruitment
Based in the London Head Office the Head of Operational Risk – Banking, has global responsibility to oversee and assist senior management within Global Banking to effectively identify, quantify and manage the Operational Risk profile of their business as well as ensuring they operate a robust secondary control infrastructure.
Principal Accountabilities:
• The incumbent will play a key role in managing the Operational Risk profile
• The individual will play a key advisory role in all strategic business development/change projects to ensure the internal control environment is being built in accordance with Bank control standards
• The individual will be responsible for oversight and challenge of senior management discharging their responsibilities for managing operational risk within stated organisational appetite
• The individual will be responsible for oversight of the Business Risk and Control programmes

• Businesses operate within organisational operational risk appetite
• Change projects are assessed for operational risk impact before implementation
Key Customers / Stakeholders will be made up of the GB Business Heads, CFOs and Business Managers, plus Senior Management in support areas.
The Head of Operational Risk will lead a small global team and will be expected to take a key leadership role in the Operational Risk function.
Knowledge Experience / Qualifications
• Extensive industry experience in a corporate / investment banking institution.
• Understanding of advanced operational risk frameworks in major financial services firms.
• Strong knowledge of the control environment surrounding corporate / investment banking.
• Experience within an Operational Risk role within a corporate / investment banking is beneficial.
• Candidate would need to be a team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and confidence to deal with senior staff to sell the benefits of OR management and challenge their operating environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Bilingual: English and French required.
