Head of Operational Risk Manager

Overview:

A head of operational risk manager is required to lead a team of 24 risk professionals to deliver a robust and effective control framework. The Retail Bank is moving to a business partner model with the emphasis on supporting our Business colleagues to deliver effective management of Operational risk.

Job Duties:

1) Ensure all sources of operational risk within the retail bank are identified and assessed: operational process reliability, IT security, outsourcing of operations, dependence on key suppliers, implementation of strategic change.

2) Create understanding and sponsorship of operational risk in retail banking and embed those techniques across all areas.

3) Integrate operational risk management into a value proposition and enforce compliance with operational risk policies.

4) Assess the integrity of operational risk identification processes in the retail bank, the adequacy of management techniques and standards employed.

5) Develop and manage a team of risk management professionals to achieve outstanding levels of delivery, performance, challenge and oversight.

6) Escalate all high and critical levels of operational risk.

7) Raise awareness within the Group of operational risk.

Service Delivery:

1) Deliver the budget allocated for business as usual activities continually seeking opportunities for efficiency improvements.

2) Ensure the successful delivery of initiatives, aimed at improving the operational risk controls of the Bank and delivering significant benefits in terms of reduced and avoided operational losses

3) Ensure all audit deliverables are achieved in relation to overdues and issue assurance.

Team Leadership:

1) Ensure that sufficient organizational capability and expert Operational risk professionals are available

2) Create and articulate a compelling vision, incorporating strategic goals and short-and medium term priorities.
Inspire and drive high performance in individuals and team members, enabling each member to understand his/her role in team success

3) Set clear, challenging and stretching objectives with a concrete focus on business results, behaviours and continual development. Monitor and review objectives with team members on a regular basis,
