Position Summary:
The IT Project Management Office (IT PMO) was formed to function as the independent central coordination team for ensuring that all projects and programs within Infrastructure Technology (IT) department at the fund are well managed and that the goals of IT programs/projects are achieved in alignment with expectations.
The Project Management (PM) Staff Manager reports to the IT PMO Senior Staff Manager (who is ultimately responsible for all project/program delivery) and is responsible for managing a team of approx 2-6 project managers. In pursuit of this goal, the PM Staff Manager will need to: recruit, train and manage a team of project managers and continuously and openly manage their performance; manage relationships with multiple stakeholders; oversee and ensure quality delivery of the team’s assigned projects; collect, measure, synthesize, and communicate assigned project progress with a variety of leaders/groups.
Responsibilities would include:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of distinctive project managers to support assigned portfolio needs within the Infrastructure (IT) department,
- Rapidly assess and make staffing recommendations based on resource fit
- Ensure project resources are appropriately allocated and consistently making adjustments if resource loading becomes an issue
- Ensure internal project standards are being followed by team of project managers
- Ensure projects are being managed and delivered excellently, within scope, schedule and budget
- Drive delivery in a quality way by interfacing with stakeholders, monitoring and managing project health, and managing communications and escalation
- Work with project managers to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues or risks, and escalate if required
- Manage all significant issues, risks and escalations as necessary on projects
- Conduct quality control and review of project status and progress reports
- Understand goals for projects and ensure they are on track to deliver the set goals
- Collect, measure, synthesize, and communicate assigned pillar projects’ progress with Sr. Staff Manager, Portfolio Management Team, senior leadership, and stakeholders
- Provide support to the IT PMO management team as needed
Position Requirements:
- 3+ years of responsibility managing a team of project managers, 5+ years of project management experience with 10+ total years of professional experience in technology
- Experience using multiple infrastructure project lifecycles and project management frameworks
- Solid understanding of intersection between tech operations, engineering, and project/delivery management
- Understand process alignments and suitability to different types of projects
- Engage in constructive debate and conflict in order to arrive at better solutions
- Open-mindedly evaluate the trade-offs among options and demonstrate good judgment
- Think critically about the goals, deliverables, and plans for projects to ensure alignment to the business / project goal(s), and be comfortable with sharing their thought process
- Flexible, open-minded, and is comfortable giving and receiving feedback
- Results-oriented, showing decisiveness and judgment; willingness to be challenged and questioned, striving for continuous personal improvement
- Strong interpersonal skills required, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals

Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
- Track record of success in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and flat organization within an extremely fast paced and demanding environment
- Industry experience in a highly analytical, fast-paced, and transaction/volume-based business where technology is critical to the survival of the business
- Good knowledge of IT infrastructure in general, with previous operational experience
- PMI, Prince2 Certification
