HTML, CSS and JavaScript (Front End) Developer at 5 Media (Nicosia, Cyprus) (allows remote)
Skills Requirements
We expect to see:
- Excellent coding skills and a track record of getting stuff done
- Several years of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML development targeting web, tablet, and mobile browsers
- At least 1 year of professional experience as a front-end developer
- Proven telecommuting skills: self-motivating, self-directed, and aggressively communicative, including the effective use of revision control, bug tracking, and IRC
- Good design sense: you should be able to follow a style guide and implement common UX patterns like a log-in page or file upload form with minimal guidance
- Ability to read, write, and optimize front-end code for performance and robustness
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and have a flexible, positive attitude
- Experience in configuring and maintaining their own Linux-based development environment (setting up development web servers, installing the necessary components, etc.)
- An understanding of how to separate development, testing, and production environments, and of how to safely deploy applications to production
- Attention to detail
We'd like to see:
- Some full-stack web-development experience (backend, database, service programming, etc.)
- Experience building applications that use progressive enhancement and responsive design
- Knowledge of on-page SEO for JavaScript-intensive websites using techniques like pushState, _escaped_fragment_, or PhantomJS
- Familiarity with using rich snippets, structured data, and the ALT attribute to make your code accessible and easy to crawl
- Experience with code quality tools like JSLint, JSHint, ESLint and CSS lint
It would help if you had:
- An understanding of third party APIs (e.g. oAuth, Facebook, twitter, OpenSocial, Flickr, etc.)
- Experience with one or more JavaScript MVC frameworks like Angular, Backbone or Ember
- Experience with UX Frameworks like Foundation and Bootstrapp
- Experience with CSS preprocessors like LESS and Sass
- Experience implementing and verifying page instrumentation using Google Analytics
- An understanding of how to code webpages to render nicely when shared over Open Graph or Twitter
- The ability to slice PSDs and create sprites
