Description of Duties:

The Human Resources Associate will be physically located at CNSE’s Smart System Technology and Commercialization Center in the Rochester, NY area. This position will be part-time with the expectation of 20 hours of time commitment per week. The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to:

• Assist with all phases of recruitment to include writing and revising job descriptions and announcement of vacancies ensuring compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), position classification and compensation, job analysis, advertising, reference checking, interviewing, affirmative action compliance and reporting, ability to compile and track data and make recommendations, and any other personnel or recruitment related activities.
• Assist with record keeping requirements to establish and maintain employee/payroll records; checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, maintaining time and attendance records, and any other record keeping needed to ensure compliance and maintenance of data.
• Assist and facilitate performance review program and appraisals to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization.
• Assist with employee counseling and disciplinary processes. Coach and counsel managers on the progressive disciplinary processes and required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with the Research Foundation of SUNY, New York State, and University policies and procedures.
• Research and answer HR related questions via verbal and written communication.
• Other administrative duties and special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Special Projects.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from a college or university accredited by US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization OR equivalent AND a minimum of two to three years of professionally responsible experience; demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration; demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office; excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong attention to detail, analytical and research skills; applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications: PHR
