Human Resources Manager (Ibero and Italy Region) McGraw-Hill Education, Madrid based recruitment
McGraw-Hill Education is one of the world's largest publishers of academic books and provider of on-line educational resources. We are currently recruiting a Human Resources Manager for an initial 12 month fixed term contract to cover the Ibero and Italy region, this position will be based in our Madrid office.
The Human Resources Manager will support the strategic direction of the Company in Ibero and Italy and provide a key input to the overall European HR strategy. The manager will develop Spanish employment policies, resourcing, and talent development initiatives, to attract and retain high calibre people and enhance their leadership potential. Managing benefit and compensation programmes for the region and providing advice to managers and employees regarding employment issues to help to maintain excellent employee relations and communication are also important.
Key responsibilities:
- As a member of the management team, understand the drivers of the business, so that HR can contribute to the Company's overall growth initiatives.
- Establish and deliver the key strategic HR priorities for the region.
- Advise senior managers in the region on specific employee relations and other change- management issues.
- Provide practical, forward-thinking employment policies and programmes that support the key business goals and ensure compliance with local employment laws and the Corporation's global practices.
- Manage and administer the region´s benefits programmes, including medical and insurance arrangements, ensuring that these are compliant with local regulations and the Corporation's global standards and policies. Ensure that these programmes are competitive and cost effective.
- Deliver a resourcing support service that enhances the brand and attracts high performing people.
- Maintain the Company's job grading and compensation programmes and oversee the regional employee information database.
- Ensure that the corporation's global performance management, executive and employee development programmes are implemented effectively so that the pool of leadership talent is strong and networked.
- Promote a culture of equality of opportunity and high ethical standards across our business groups.
Skills
- Prior HR management experience at a senior level.
- Experienced in dealing with the complexities of a multiple-location, multi-cultural environment.
- Background in a unionised environment and experience of working with unions and works councils/employee representatives.
- Excellent commercial and technology awareness.
- Good understanding of the economics and social dynamics of the Ibero and Italian region.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law and benefits systems, particularly in Spain and Italy.
- A high degree of autonomy calls for good judgement and "global" awareness when providing local solutions.
- Experience of directing performance management and talent development programmes.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish are essential (Italian would be an advantage).
- First-rate written and spoken communication skills.
- Highly customer focused.
