Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY

Manages, develops, implements, and coordinates human resources for several human resources functions including employment, labor relations, compensation, training, equal employment/affirmative action, records, safety and health, benefits, and employee services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Evaluates the status and productivity of human resources programs and recommends changes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Assists top management in planning, development, implementation and evaluation activities.

Develops, implements and coordinates policies and programs covering several of the following: employment, labor relations, wage and salary administration, orientation and training, placement, safety and health, benefits, and employee services.

May be responsible for managing the personnel roles in several human resources functions such as employment, labor relations, compensation, training, equal employment/affirmative action, records, safety and health, benefits and employee services.

Manages the human resources function for a business unit or line of business.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of five to seven years of related experience and/or training.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES 

PHR or SPHR preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.  Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, supervisor, and/or management.  Ability to make effective presentations on general topics to an internal department, large group of employees, clients, and/or management. Ability to motivate employees and client groups to take desired action.                 

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires general knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines.  Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
