The Position

This position sits within the IFRS  team, which reports to the Head of Financial Reporting, and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial accounting and management information reported by VTB Capital plc in London, and for ensuring that information is provided on a timely basis, along with all supporting documentation including:

-   Quarterly IFRS submissions to VTB Group Reporting, which are subject to review by the Bank’s auditors, Ernst Young;

-   Local IFRS reporting requirements including the preparation of the annual report and accounts for the VTB Capital plc Group;

-   Monthly reporting to VTB Group Reporting.

-   Reporting of financial data to internal stakeholders such as senior management, Treasury and the Regulatory team.

In addition to London, the IFRS team produces financial reports for VTB Capital‘s operations outside Russia, ie:

- Dubai;

- Singapore;

- New York;

- Hong Kong; and

-  Bulgaria

The IFRS team also works closely with the IFRS team in VTB Capital Moscow, to ensure consistent accounting processes and policies are applied around the Group.

The team is also a key stakeholder in the development of a data warehouse IT solution, that adds value to the business and aids the Banks decision making process while at the same time providing a responsive infrastructure to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Bank’s financial reporting requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

This role requires a newly qualified accountant to join the IFRS side of the team responsible for reporting the results of the Bank’s expanding international operations:

a) Reviewing results for:

- London;

- Dubai;

- Singapore;

- New York; and

- Hong Kong

to ensure they meet Group reporting requirements on daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis;

b) Understanding the business and results of the overseas entities for the preparation of internal management reporting purposes and to answer queries from within VTB and from external audit;

c) Assisting Manager-IFRS Consolidation in preparation of quarterly GRF reporting to parent bank, particularly supplementary disclosures on financial instruments; and

d) Assisting Financial Project Manager on major finance projects, to improve the efficiency of Group IFRS reporting.

The role will offer a high degree of liaison with the Moscow office and with the Group Chief Accountant in London.

A significant percentage of this role is in relation to formal reporting processes with set deadlines and parameters. However, in addition to meeting these essential requirements, the successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to develop their 

understanding of the business and results of VTB Capital plc, to identify efficiencies in the reporting process, as well as to answer queries from within VTB and from external audit.

- Qualified accountant, with financial services experience

- Recent IFRS practical experience

- Strong excel and data-manipulation skills

- Happy to perform detailed daily/periodic role, with good attention to detail

- Keen to learn, with good problem-solving abilities

- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Able to develop relationships with key business personnel

- Able to work under pressure and deal with multiple deadlines

- Good commercial experience, with the ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ through the detail, and understand the mechanics of the business.
