Release / Implementation Engineer – Build, Poweshell
I am currently looking for an Implementation / Release Engineer to work for my large Investment Banking Client based in London to work in a small team responsible for ensuring all aspects of ITS Operations are well engineering, automation and simplification.
The successful candidate will be in charge of providing clear technical expertise for all non-functional aspects of the applications and systems, demonstrating a real intimate knowledge of how an application makes deploys to and operates on the underlying Operating System and utilises the underlying infrastructure. The candidate needs to be strongly technical with equally strong softer skills to work with developers, business analysts, application support, product vendor, and architecture and Service Management teams.
Candidates will be required to:
- Work with project managers, developers, business analysts and other 3rd Line Application
Support team members to provide subject matter expertise
- Work with the 2nd Line Application Support team and Incident Managers to provide technical direction
- Engage with software vendors to discuss improvements / issues / upgrades / installation automation of their products
- Provide expertise on areas including but not limited to monitoring / alerting, deployment, database, permissions / security, connectivity, application tier, infrastructure / platforms, disaster recovery, thin / fat client installation
Candidates will require the following experience:
- Investment banking or asset management experience performing a similar position
- Intimate understanding of how applications and databases interact with the Windows O/S
- PowerShell scripting of application deployment and O/S-level configuration on a Windows Server platform
- Experience with DDL/DML for Oracle or MS SQL Server RDBMS
- Good understanding of infrastructure technologies such as servers, networks, virtualisation.
- Experience with supporting technologies such as network connectivity, TCP/IP, Powershell scripting
It would be nice for candidatures to have:
- ITIL v3 Foundation qualification
- Source Control systems such as TFS
- Experience with software used for build/deploy automation, monitoring and alerting such as BladeLogic, Serena, NetIQ, ITRS Genios, Splunk
