Position Description
This position serves as the electrical leader with overall responsibility for all electrical activities at the St. Gabriel chemical manufacturing site; and is the single point of contact for all electrical related problems and issues.

 He/she will layout, install and repair complicated machinery control systems and circuits furnishing power and light throughout the complex, in accordance with NEC and NFPA codes.  This includes repairing electric rotors, generators, transformers and accessory equipment such as starting devices, switches, relays, etc.  The position requires the removing of electrical devices from machines and equipment, and then repairing or replacing the devices to restore them to proper working order.  Tasks may require the bending, cutting, and hanging of conduit, installation of panel boards, switch gear, junction boxes, and cutting into high voltage lines.

A knowledge of relay logic, analog and digital circuitry, programmable controller language, with the proper set up, and operation and reading of a variety of diagnostic instruments is required.

Requirements                                                                                                                      

Education:

·         High School diploma or GED. Technical degree or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

·         Minimum 3 to 7 years of industrial experience

·         Minimum of 3 years of high voltage experience

·         Must be proficient in medium voltage cable splicing and terminating

Competencies /skills needed for the job:

·         Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards and regulations

·         Apply a high level of skill in the diagnosis and repairs of electrical faults.

·         Competently use tools and instruments of the electrical trade such as, conduit bending tools, underground cable installation tools, voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, multi-meters, meggers and high voltage equipment.

·         Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings and specification; to prepare sketches and schematic drawings; to prepare summaries and reports; and to communicate effectively and follow directions.

·         Be able to oversee major maintenance projects for contract electricians

·         UPS, VFD’s, PLC knowledge needed

·         Instrument calibration and PM’s a Plus

·         Participation in plant Hazard Reviews, ORI’s, MOC’s and PSSR’s

·         SAP knowledge a plus

·         Be willing to attend PLC, Honeywell classes

·         Must be a team player and have a strong safety knowledge/culture

·         Have strong personal accountability, leadership and interpersonal skills

 

Additional Attributes and Physical Requirements:

·         Normal schedule is Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Must have ability and willingness for on-call rotation schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

·         Participate in plant Rescue and Fire Brigade Teams

·         Ability to lift 50 pounds and pull/handle heavy cables and wiring

·         Safety-sensitive position – subject to random drug screens

·         Ability and willingness to learn to operate a forklift and man-lift

·         Be willing to attended PLC, Honeywell classes

·         Participate in plant/community committees
