Industrials (Property) Credit Analyst , London
Fitch Ratings’ EMEA Corporate group provides public and private ratings of companies and their debt instruments in Western Europe and, increasingly, CEE, the CIS, Middle East and Africa.
The department employs a team of credit analysts across Europe. In addition to London, Fitch’s largest office, the department has analysts on the ground in Moscow, Paris, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Barcelona, Milan, South Africa and Dubai.
The department is split into five sector teams: Natural Resources and Commodities, Utilities and Transport, Consumer and Healthcare, Industrials, and Telecoms, Media and Technology. In addition, a specialist Leveraged Finance team focuses on credits with leveraged capital structures.
Responsibilities:
Working in the EMEA Industrials Group, the successful candidate will have analytical responsibility under the supervision of a senior analyst for a portfolio consisting mainly of European Property Diversified Construction corporate credits. Over time, the analyst would be expected to take over coverage of major UK REITS and to develop into one of Fitch’s experts in the property field.
He/She will present and discuss recommendations developed in conjunction with the senior analyst to a rating committee and will also be responsible for writing research reports. Additional analytical focus will comprise sector-wide research as well as ad-hoc commentaries.
The role will also involve presentation of the analytical product to issuers, investors, the media and bankers and entail some travel. The candidate is expected to keep fully up-to-date with market/industry developments and to proactively manage the rating process of issuers in his/her portfolio to provide timely and insightful opinion to investors.
The portfolio will include both Investment Grade and Speculative grade issuers and will involve collaboration with the Leveraged Finance Team. The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Industrials Group.
Person Specification:
- Strong financial analysis skills, including forward-looking cash flow modelling, preferably from a credit or fixed income / accounting background
- 3 to 5 year analytical work experience, prior knowledge of companies in property-related is desirable but by no means essential
- ACA / CFA qualifications a plus
- Self-starter with an ability to work independently
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Fluent written and spoken English. Knowledge of French, Spanish, Italian or German would be beneficial.
