Reporting to the Director of  Networking and Telecommunications, the Information Security Administrator is charged with protecting the College's informational and infrastructure assets from external and internal threats.  This person will help coordinate and maintain information security policies and standards, perform risk assessments and take remediation actions that involve data, network, and systems vulnerabilities.  The Information Security Administrator will develop and maintain systems for data security, infrastructure security, as well as identify management across the various systems on campus requiring unified user authentication.

This individual will serve as a contact point for information security, privacy and infringement incidents.  They will keep abreast of security advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities, with particular attention to those which pertain to or might effect the College, and ensure that preparatory and/or remedial steps are taken.  This individual will oversee and participate in patch management, virus system management, and malware control.  This person will have primary responsibility for maintaining Emerson's responsibility for controlling access to network and system resources; maintaining appropriate levels of network and data encryption, key escrows and secure delivery of keys.  The Information System Administrator will monitor computer systems and logs to collaborate with management that are consistent with State and Federal guidelines and will address security violations and take corrective actions, and participate in the College's legal responsibilities towards data preservation.  This person will plan, prepare and deliver security and privacy training sessions and programs along with the Manager of Technology Support Services throughout the College.

This individual should have demonstrable security administration and systems/network administration skills.  They should have proven communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals across the College, including technical and non-technical staff, faculty and students.  The capacity to prioritize effectively, and the ability to follow complex tasks with minimal supervision is strongly desired.

At least two years, or equivalent, of information security, supporting a medium to large scale environment is desired in the successful candidate.  Knowledge of Mac OS, LINUX, Windows, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, security principles and network architectures sought.  Ability to organize, plan and coordinate activities designed to mitigate unauthorized activity; skills to resolve complex problems, coordinate flow of information and carry out follow-up procedures desired. Strong personal organization, and the ability to describe technical users, are very important.  A degree in a computer related field is desired.
