We currently are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and innovative Manager, Packaging. This key position will be based in our packaging operations in Valencia, CA (So. CA).
Position Summary:
Oversees, facilitates, and coordinates work of all shifts of Packaging, and Label Room Departments; ensures all safety and quality standards are met; provides training, development, and instruction to supervisors and line personnel; interfaces with other departments to facilitate flow of materials and finished goods through the department.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees a three?shift, 24?hour?a?day operation to ensure production goals are met, quality standards are adhered to, all safety rules are followed, and all equipment is functioning properly.
- Interfaces with several departments to expedite and facilitate flow of components to finished goods through the department.
- Promote a positive culture and is capable of team building to ensure employees work to increase efficiency and productivity. Will maintain system for cross training and development of team members.
- Manages, trains, and develops department supervisors and line personnel to ensure product quality, production and safety requirements are met.
- Takes a leadership role in ensuring quality is a priority in the manufacture of our product and continuously strives to improve our systems and processes.
- Takes the initiative to improve processes. Problem solves through fact finding, resulting in short term corrective action and permanent long term solutions. Initiates group meetings to explore and evaluate new trends and ideas.
- Plans and projects future equipment requirements to ensure Pharmavite remains competitive.
- Interfaces and negotiates with vendors of packaging materials and equipment, to ensure competitive prices. Obtains approval from management for purchases and oversees installation and start up of equipment as needed.
- Compiles and provides production data to upper management to ensure timely dissemination of information.
- Prepares a departmental operating expense and capital budget; monitors expenditures and controls usage to adhere to budgeted amounts.
- Monitors bulk component material variances to meet or exceed standard.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Requires a four year college or university degree or its equivalent in Business or Engineering.
Certification:
None
Experience:
Requires two to five years experience supervisory/management experience in a high speed packaging environment or similar operation.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Requires:
- Comprehensive knowledge of SOPs, cGMPs, and packaging equipment
- Good organizational skills; Strong oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move about the packaging operations floor and a general office environment.
Environment:
Exposure to disagreeable elements is moderate.
Safety:
The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for 10 to 15 employees.
