ABOUT THE POSITION

 

The IT Architect’s role is to develop and maintain the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical IT architecture. This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. The IT Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIIES:

 

Strategy Planning

 

·          Maintain in-depth knowledge of company’s strategic business plans

·          Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance

·          Document and develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing IT architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio

·          Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility

·          Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems

·          Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement

·          Develop and maintain technology roadmaps

 

Operational Management

 

·          Collaborate with end users and senior management to define business requirements for complex systems development and gain buy-in for all infrastructure plans

·          Review new and existing IT projects, systems designs, and procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural plans

·          Provide guidance to junior members of the team

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

·          General to advance knowledge of technology in the areas of client server operations, security, networking, business continuity or disaster recovery and their interrelationships

·          Technical knowledge of network, PC, and operating systems

·          Extensive experience with developing strategic plans

·          3 or more years of work experience in systems design and development

·          Exceptional Analytical, conceptual, and problem solving skills

·          Excellent English oral and writing skills, German skills a plus

·          Excellent technical architectual and support documentation skills

·          Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products

·          Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

·          Proven project planning and mangement experience

·          Periodic travel

 

EXPECTED EDUCATION:

 

·          College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering

·          Current CCIE and MCITP certification desired, CCNP and MCSE required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:

 

·          Duties will require physical ability to move and navigate in small network closets

·          Requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

·          Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

·          While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment with occasional work at a construction job site building or trailer, where the employee is exposed to electrical components and there is a risk of electrical shock

·          Sitting for extended periods of time

·          The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud
