Institutional Portfolio Manager
The Templeton Global Bond Team is a pioneer and leader in global fixed income investing. It seeks current income with capital appreciation and growth of income through a flexible investment strategy applied across the full global fixed income universe. Having the flexibility to invest globally in any country or currency, including emerging markets, allows the Global Bond investment team to take advantage of prevailing macroeconomic trends, opportunities in interest rates, currencies and sovereign credit to create a competitive advantage. Through various market conditions, including the unprecedented volatility over the last decade, the Team’s Global Bond Fund posted positive returns in 10 of the past 12 calendar years.
We are currently looking for an Institutional Portfolio Manager to join the Global Bond team.
The Institutional Portfolio Manager (IPM) is responsible for communicating the Templeton Global Bond investment philosophy, process and current strategy. As a member of the investment team, the IPM will meet with clients, prospects, and/or intermediaries to explain the investment philosophy, process, and performance, while providing updates on the investment outlook for the Templeton Global Bond Fund.
The IPM will serve as an integrated member of the investment management organization, focusing on the Team’s relationships with key distribution partners. The IPM will be a principal conduit to provide perspective and understanding regarding the Team’s suite of global bond products to a broad range of internal and external constituencies. Additionally, the IPM will focus on providing the investment management organization with market based perspectives and insights. The IPM will not be responsible for the management of funds and will not have any research responsibilities.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Act as a principal spokesperson for the Templeton Global Bond Team’s investment philosophy, process and strategy in support of winning new portfolio mandates.
- Act as a conduit between the investment team and distribution channels to support client retention efforts.
- Meet with external key decision makers at U.S. and international clients (retail and institutional) to provide periodic portfolio reviews and updates.
- Provide periodic portfolio commentary, and written communication pieces that articulate the investment team’s perspective regarding the financial markets and fund performance.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- BA Required, MBA or advanced degree in related field, or CFA strongly preferred.
- 10-15 years of credible experience and tenure within the industry, specifically within global fixed income.
- Previous experience as a Research Analyst or Portfolio Manager preferred.
- Strong understanding and focus on global macro-economics.
- Ability to verbally and orally articulate all facets of the investment process and strategy on behalf of investment team.
- Effective relationship management skills and demonstrated credibility with investment team and distribution teams.
- Ability to effectively deliver presentations on complex financial and economic topics to a broad audience.
- Ability to analyze and effectively present performance results.
- Demonstrated knowledge of global capital markets, and various asset classes.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with external industry contacts.
- Ability to support business development and client retention efforts.
- Demonstrated experience and familiarity with the latest risk management and portfolio construction tools and.
- Familiarity with the portfolio analytical tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of investment vehicles and pricing structures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of distribution channels.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
