Responsibilities/Duties:

 

The Clinical Instructor in Palliative Care functions as an integral member of the Palliative Care Consult Service – Acute care, to provide specialized nursing care to selected patients and their families; act as a consultant/resource to staff nurses on issues related to quality of life, symptom management, end of life issues; and to collaborate with other health team members to develop and implement a plan of care. This position will be located primarily at the FMC but will be expected to provide coverage at other sites if the need arises.

 

Qualifications:

 

·  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

·  Current registration in a Master’s in Nursing program with relevant specialization is preferred

·  3 – 5 years of clinical experience relevant to palliative care

·  Demonstrated expertise in nursing practice.

·  Demonstrated organization and teaching skills.

·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·  Demonstrated skill in applying palliative care to non cancer populations an asset

·  CHPCN (C) desired

·  Current registration with CARNA

·  BCLS required
