Job Description: This position will work for and support Food Group Field Operations Raw Procurement Manager, Field Representative, and Raw Planner/Scheduler in the area of supporting the procurement of potatoes and associated activities. The position will work full time during the summer and up to 20 hours per week during the school year. Responsibilities: ? Summer crop sampling for field quality/Crop Progress Data Systems. Field observations during growing season. Coordination of field sampling and grading for samples Winter/Spring Storage monitoring under direction of Raw Procurement Manager or Field Representatives. Assist with harvest activities during Fall harvest. Work on special projects as assigned. Work with growers as directed by Raw Procurement Manager or Field Representative. ? Computer input of crop progress application tracking or field observations reports to the Raw Procurement Manager and Field Representatives or other spreadsheets as necessary. Providing reports to Raw Procurement Manager and Food Group Leadership Team ? Assist Raw Planner/Scheduler with projects/special assignments as directed to support production operations. ? Support manufacturing operations as it relates to raw product. Requirements: ? High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must be currently enrolled in college/university. Six plus months related experience. Currently enrolled in college/university; Sophomore - minimum 26 credits, Junior - minimum 58 credits, Senior - minimum 90 credits and Graduate - baccalaureate degree and has been admitted to graduate college and is pursuing the graduate degree. Preferred to target students within the College of Agriculture, Plant Sciences, Ag Business, Food Science, or Operations Management. ? Potato experience; an understanding on potato crop development and processing quality preferred. ? A farm background or some experience on a farm or equivalent experience preferred. ? Ability to operate equipment off road or farm roads. Strong communication skills and work on a team. Operate a 4 wheel drive pickup. ? Must have basic computer knowledge and be proficient in MS Office programs such as Word and Excel. Able to work in outside environment and handle up to 50 pounds (digging and handling samples). ? Ability to be self-directed/motivated and organized. ? Able to read and interpret township and municipal maps. Able to navigate to remote field locations. ? Outside work in weather elements. Ability to handle samples 50 lbs. Internship may continue for up to three months after graduation to allow for project/assignment completion. ? Must have a Valid driver?s license and a Clean drivers record Location Information Just 45 minutes away from Boise, Caldwell offers a small community atmosphere, but large city amenities. Caldwell boasts great community events and recreational activities for river rafters, skiers, hot springs lovers, trail riders and hikers.
