Intern Tunis
Role Overview
Recently established, our Resident Office ('RO') in Tunis is seeking to fill an Internship position for an initial duration of 6 months (with a possible extension to 12 months).
Working closely and under the continuous supervision of the Head of Office, the Intern will support the team in market mapping, day-to-day RO matters, and generic tasks of progressively increasing complexity and diversity. Depending on the project cycle, he/she will also be involved in different stages of the origination, execution and monitoring of debt financing and equity investment transactions. If needed, the Intern will also provide assistance in the preparation of technical assistance programmes.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
In the context of a start-up within a major international institution, the responsibilities for this role will vary and evolve over time. They may include, amongst others, the following:
- Day-to-day RO matters and support to the Head of Office
- Market mapping of key sectors identified as operational priorities for EBRD in Tunisia
- Preparation of business development activities and materials
- Preparation of a booklet of weekly business news and news monitoring
- Building up and maintaining a database containing up-to-date comparable valuations and case studies in Tunisia and comparable emerging markets
- Building up and monitoring an information library on capital markets and banking industry developments in the country
- Assistance in preparation of documentation for new projects, for example through background and information searches or taking responsibility for a specific document sections (such as financial analysis) together with the analyst bankers
- Providing periodic ad-hoc presentations.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Recent Masters degree (in the last 12th months) from a leading university (e.g. business management, economics, finance) or evidence of being currently enrolled and working towards such a degree
- Proven interest and sound understanding of financial markets and institutions
- Developed analytical and numerical skills; ability for logical reasoning and interpretation of data
- Fundamental accounting skills: ability to read and analyse financial statements under IFRS and Tunisian accounting standards
- Ability to write well structured and concise documents in English
- Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including the ability to draft articulated financial analyses
- Ability to read and analyse documents and communicate fluently in French
