Internal Audit Manager, Public Sector

EXPERIENCED PUBLIC SECTOR INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGER BASED IN THE SOUTH COVERING DORSET, WILTSHIRE AND BERKSHIRE WORKING FOR AN ACCOUNTANCY PRACTICE FIRM

Our client is an accountancy practice firm seeking to strengthen their team with an experienced addition to their public services audit team in the South. 

As a Manager with the internal audit team, reporting directly to the Internal Audit Partner and Director, you will be responsible for conducting and delivering risk based internal audit work and reviews on behalf of a number of clients within the local authority and NHS sectors. Client satisfaction is of paramount importance and you will need excellent communication and written skills, and an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

It is likely that the successful person will be professionally qualified ACCA, MIIA, CIPFA (or equivalent) with experience of delivering internal audits in professional practice or in-house team in the public, not-for-profit or private sectors. NHS or local government internal audit. They will have experience of managing a portfolio of clients and a team of staff, have a sound technical understanding of technical issues surrounding the sector and be able to present a professional image to the firm’s clients.

Other key skills required will be excellent written and verbal presentation skills, a desire to help grow and develop the department, the ability to think creatively, generate innovative ideas, challenge the status quo and deliver work effectively. Experience of identifying issues through sound technical analysis and application of commercial acumen in all situations will also be required.
