Internal Auditor-12 months FTC
Excellent job opportunity for an Internal Auditor -(ACA, ACCA ,IIA )on a fixed term contract maternity cover for 12 months, based in Basingstoke.
Responsibilities:
Conducts a range of audit assignments to assess the effectiveness of internal controls surrounding the accuracy of financial records, efficiency of operations and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Work is performed under the general direction of more senior audit employees.
General Accountabilities:
To plan internal audits obtaining and analysing information, documenting the business objectives, processes, key controls and preparing the audit engagement letter, including the scope and objectives of the audit.
To develop audit programmes, creating the test strategy for key controls and, where appropriate, assigning fieldwork to audit staff.
To manage the execution of audits within assigned budgets and timelines ensuring any deviations are identified and brought to the attention of audit management.
Where appropriate to monitor and review the audit testing undertaken by other audit staff assigned to the audit.
To evaluate the findings and issues arising from audit testing, assessing their significance on the operation of controls and raising these with line management.
To prepare a draft audit report containing the issues raised in the audit, recommendations for corrective action and opinions on the controls tested.
To arrange and conduct closing meetings, factual accuracy meetings and draft report meetings with line management to discuss issues arising from audits and agree management action, including deadlines for completion.
To foster relationships with colleagues and clients through ongoing dialogue, sharing knowledge and skills with others.
Required experience/ skills and qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience of Internal Audit practice and methodology
• Understanding of UK regulatory and compliance environment
• Knowledge of UK Insurance and a broad understanding of Financial Services
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Ideally a Qualified Accountant or Auditor
