Internal Controls Acountant recruitment
This role requires a qualified accountant withstrong audit experience, to join the team to develop and strengthen the financial control framework within the Finance Department, with responsibilities including:
a) developing the monthly Balance Sheet Substantiation (BSS) programme, including:
- managing the monthly BSS reporting process;
- owning and making further use of the capabilities of the automated system which was introduced in 2010;
- reviewing substantiation procedures performed by accounting owners;
- performing secondary sign-off where appropriate;
- analysing and reporting the results of the BSS process to management; and
- liaising with Internal and External Audit as appropriate.
b) acting as key contact for Financial Control within the Finance Department, including:
- reviewing and following up on internal audit recommendations, and external audit management letter points;
- ensure policies and procedures are fully documented across critical processes; and
- developing best practice financial control processes within the Finance Department.
c) developing robust inter-company procedures, with particular focus on the formal quarterly sign-off of balances with the wider Group.
Who we're looking for
Key skills:
- Qualified accountant, with strong audit IFRS practical experience (likely to be ACA) in a financial services background;
- Ability to work independently and report findings to senior management in clear, jargon-free language;
- Ability to assess risk in a practical context, rather than following standard audit procedures without question.
Candidate should be able to demonstrate proactive and dynamic behaviours and show that they can take ownership of their responsibilities and make recommendations to Senior Management for improvements.
