John Crane is seeking an exceptional Inventory Supervisor to manage our inventory at our Morton Grove, IL Headquarters and our Crystal Lake facility.

BASIC FUNCTION:
In essence, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the right quantity and quality of inventory in order to maximize Customer Service and optimize Inventory investment. To achieve this, it is extremely critical to effectively administer our Inventory Management tool/IQM2 and consequently make decisions based on its recommendations.
SPECIFICALLY, THE INVENTORY SUPERVISOR WILL:
- Actively participate in Inventory goal setting - Inventory KPIs.
- Periodically update planning data in QAD (based on IQM2 recommendations): lead times, safety stock, B/M, etc.
- Effective stock items replenishment
- Work with other departments to define and implement effective cycle counting procedures.
- Start specific initiatives to improve Inventory KPIs (Lean initiatives, 6 Sigma, etc.).
- Responsible for Monthly Inventory forecast and for contingency plans to achieve inventory targets and waste reduction targets - quantity and quality targets.
- Work together with cost accounting and purchasing to reduce WO variance related to material costs.
- Work with planning and purchasing to assure material availability when needed.
- Work with different areas to define special inventory, safety stock for special items and assure effective replenishment.
- Work with different areas to define inventory locations to maximize customer service and minimize supply chain costs.
- Update formulas and criteria in IQM2 to assure alignment with demand pattern and inventory dynamics.
- Implement annual plan of Inventory Management audits and follow up improvement action plans.
- Work with purchasing, manufacturing, cost accounting, engineering, suppliers and other areas to correct negative deviations in inventory costs, lead time, quality, etc.
- Lead monthly inventory meeting to communicate results and evaluate improvement opportunities. Keep Inventory scorecard updated.
- Provide training to different departments - inventory impact in costs and delivery performance, IQM2, inventory management, etc.
- Work with cost accounting to define excess and obsolete provisions in line with Smiths policies and implement effective action items to reduce the quantity of E O.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Administration required; MBA is recommended
- Successful completion of Lean manufacturing and/or 6 Sigma training
- Successful completion of Supply Chain Management courses/Inventory Management courses
- 5 years working experience in recognized organizations
- 4 years or more working in Supply Chain related positions - planning, purchasing, inventory, distribution, warehousing, etc.
- Working experience in discrete manufacturing companies
- Experience in Project Management (desirable)
- Design and Implementation of Supply Chain scorecards
- Experience in Inventory Management
- Experience as a key user in recognized ERPs - Supply Chain modules
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, multitasking and organizational skills
