Our client is a leading international fund manager with investments spanning infrastructure, debt, private equity and equities. With an emphasis on collaboration, continued development and a strong corporate culture, they are a highly desired employer offering significant opportunities for their team. Due to an ever-increasing portfolio of unlisted infrastructure and energy assets, they currently seek to appoint a highly capable Investment Analyst to their team in Melbourne.
The Infrastructure Investments team is involved in the acquisition and management of large-scale infrastructure, energy and renewables assets including ports, airports, tollroads, rail, utilities assets and wind generation facilities. These assets offer a steady, low risk return to their institutional investor base; predominately comprised of superannuation and pension funds.
The Investment Analyst plays an important role in the infrastructure investments team and is well-positioned to develop a sound understanding of the infrastructure and energy sectors whilst forging a successful career in funds management. The Investment Analyst’s role is broad; positioned in the front office investment team they will be responsible for providing support to senior team members with respect to the ongoing asset management and reporting requirements of portfolio assets. Put simply, this means periodically reviewing each of the fund’s assets (seaports / airports / roads / etc.), and assessing their respective profitability and capital returns for dissemination to key business stakeholders (such as investors and the leadership team). The Investment Analyst will participate in any number of asset-level management tasks such as periodic valuations, capital structure analysis and recapitalisations, financial modelling forecasting, board reporting, stakeholder management and a raft of other ad-hoc analytical tasks. Finally, the Investment Analyst will have an involvement in acquisition of new assets to the fund.
Applicants will possess a relevant tertiary degree, likely in Commerce, Finance or Engineering and have outstanding academic transcripts. It is likely applicants will be working towards a post-graduate qualification such as the Chartered Accounting or Chartered Financial Analyst program. This role is suitable for candidates with 1-3 years of prior work experience gained in an investment Bank, Chartered Accounting firm (corporate finance team), Management Consulting, Corporate Advisor, Project Finance team of a Commercial Bank or competing infrastructure fund Applicants with prior exposure to infrastructure or energy will be looked upon favourably.
