The financial crisis of 2009 led to the regulatory over haul of the OTC derivatives market. As such the widespread adoption of central clearing evolved. The passing of the Dodd / Frank Act in the US in 2010, enforces that, under law, derivatives transactions be cleared through Central Clearing Houses based on defined Rules.
A clearing initiative has been in established to provide Operations support to the Credit, Rates, Equity Derivatives and FX lines of business as they need to process certain transactions via clearing houses.
The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering client service functions for the Futures and Options (FO), OTC Clearing (OTCC) and Prime Brokerage businesses. The primary responsibilities will focus on regional cross-product client service management and consistency across derivatives product classes.
In addition to OTCC, the Regional Processing Head (RPH) will be responsible for managing the regional Client Service Teams based in Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
As the Regional Processing Head you will be responsible for partnering with our Sales, Marketing, Client and Product front offices to manage client agendas with a consistent and structured approach, along with building a robust processing team supporting other regions in a 'follow the sun model'.
Leading by example you will need to leverage strong cross-product and infrastructure knowledge to ensure delivery of a first class product to our clients. The ability to partner with various teams to solve complex problems and to bring issues to closure will be critical.
This role will involve daily interaction with Front Office and Middle Office groups regionally and globally as well as frequent interaction with technology and project delivery colleagues.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the Asia FO and OTCC Client Service teams, based in Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
- Develop and recruit top talent to join Client Service teams centred in Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney.
- Develop and lead a Singapore based OTCC Client Service Transactional Support Team providing support functions for other regions.
- End to end responsibility for the Client Service BAU process, co-ordinating all aspects of service delivery.
- Ensure cross-product consistency of process, controls, service and regulatory compliance and reporting.
- Ensure the creation and ongoing monitoring of standard process and control metrics.
- Motivate high performance and collaboration among team members and groom 1-2 successors to ensure institutional continuity
- Provide budgetary and compensation direction to the global department head
- Develop and manage senior-level client relationships; Visit most clients at least twice annually
- Employ technology and strategic staffing decisions across office locations to build scalability and value for scale.
- Align with the FO, Credit, Equities, FX and Rates Global Product Heads to continually drive the business to standardized cross-product technology solutions
- Partner with fellow FO and OTCC RPHs in other regions to ensure consistent standards and best practices
- Partner with fellow Asia operations staff on regional developments and issues.
- Implement IB strategy regionally, partnering with SRP teams and other IB groups
- Ensure business continuity plans are in place, and current, and decide if and when plans are to activated due to regional or global events
- Assist in the Sales process as needed
- Partner with front office to develop and implement a consolidated technology plan that continually builds scalability
- Conduct regular business planning sessions with the corresponding front office product heads to ensure business needs are met
Skills
- 10+ years of experience in one, but preferably two of Credit, Equities, FX , Interest rate or FO derivatives operations; Experience in multiple derivatives product classes is preferred.
- Prior client service experience preferred
- Markets middle office experience preferred
- Deep understanding of the clearing and intermediation business.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interface and influence at all levels including senior professionals at clients, such as hedge funds and asset managers.

- Highly articulate, motivated, very flexible and will use their initiative to fully develop the role
- An independent, analytical thinker, who can quickly assimilate situations through to the associated risks, business or control issues
