Cambridge Associates, LLC was founded in the early 1970s to assist nonprofit institutions with the investment of their endowment assets. Today, we provide investment consulting, financial planning and proprietary capital markets research to over 850 endowed nonprofit institutions including colleges and universities, government-related entities and family groups. The firm advises on over US$2 trillion in assets in all asset categories, including equities, bonds, non-US investments, real estate, venture capital, hedge funds, leveraged buyout funds, oil and gas partnerships, and many other types of investments. Description of Investment Consultant Job Description
Investment Consultants focus on specific tasks related to the management of client assets. These Consultants assist our clients with investment objectives, asset allocation structures, investment manager structures and guidelines, investment manager selection and evaluation, and performance monitoring. The results of our Consultants' analyses are a set of specific options and recommendations designed to enhance the long-term investment performance of our clients' portfolios. Consultants work directly with the investment committee of Boards of Trustees, Chief Investment Officers, or the principals in a family office.
Principal Duties
Conduct analyses, prepare materials and present recommendations on investment and financial issues
- Create and develop diversified portfolios to enable increased returns and lower volatility consistent with time horizon, risk tolerance, and income needs of client
- Work with and present to Investment Committees and CIO/CFO of client institutions, or family office principals
- Select and evaluate investment managers for virtually all asset classes, including alternative assets such as venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and hard assets
Qualifications and Experience
- BA/BS required. An MBA or CFA strongly preferred
- Appropriate knowledge and experience, gained perhaps from work at an investment firm or a large institutional investor, such as a pension fund or endowment
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An ability to work independently
- Fluency in Mandarin or Korean would be viewed favorably
