Investment Manager/ Investment Director recruitment
Our client is seeking an Investment Manager/ Investment Director to manage a range of risk-graded discretionary portfolios investing in collective funds (Investment Management Service), discretionary private client portfolios (Portfolio Management Service) and several closed-end managed funds, investing in direct equities, investment trusts and collectives (Managed Portfolios).
You will also ensure that performance objectives are met whilst quality and service for clients is maintained at a high level. The role is supported by a qualified assistant manager and an investment administration assistant.
Other duties of the Investment Manager/ Investment Director include:
• Contribute to the setting of overall investment policy for client portfolios and managed funds by evaluating news flow and data from financial markets, brokers, fund managers and fund groups
• Participating in investment meetings and attending presentations; formulating/discussing the resultant ongoing investment policies across the range of funds under management.
• Implement the resultant investment policy across the managed funds, discretionary managed portfolios and discretionary private client portfolios. This will initially be jointly with the Investment Director, but it is hoped the successful applicant would take full responsibility as Investment Director fairly soon, as the current Investment Director will be moving to a part time supporting role.
• Ensure the effective management of the discretionary private client portfolios, with awareness of client investment guidelines, suitability, capital gains tax limitations and general planning aspects.
• To jointly write regular client and fund investment reports and quarterly review of Investment Dept operations.
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
• Strong fundamental analytical and portfolio management background, coupled with a flexible investment process and methodology
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, with exposure to fund management within the UK Market, (either collective investments or direct UK equities)
• Knowledge of portfolio construction and global markets and familiarity of running managed funds
• Minimum qualification – IMC, Member of IIMR or CFA (or international equivalent)
• Strong numeracy, strong analytical skills and good communication/presentation skills and computer literacy
• Willing to take responsibility for investment portfolios and overall investment strategy decisions and be open and honest with colleagues
