Investment Officer III – 8433/JH recruitment

The IO III’s duties center on assisting senior managers with (1) strategic and tactical directions of the real estate investment program, (2) selection of managers, portfolios, and allocations; (3) negotiations of manager agreements; (4) directing the work of lower level staff in support of the Real Estate Investment Portfolio.

Investment Officer (IO) III Minimum qualifications (MQs)

Five years of increasingly responsible investment analysis experience for a public agency or private financial institution, insurance company, pension fund, endowment fund, investment firm, real estate development and investment firm, or other private corporation or entity having a major investment management program. (Possession of an advanced degree in one of the fields included above in the education requirement, or a closely related degree, or certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst or other equivalent financial or accounting certification, such as a Certified Public Accountant, may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to details

• Experience with modeling of economic outcomes

• Knowledge of economics and real estate principles

• CFA designation

• High standards for fiduciary duty and risk management

• Ability to follow policies and procedures

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including making presentations to high level decision makers

• Possess professionalism

• Excellent teamwork skills and display responsiveness to requests for assistance and problem solving

• Ability to actively collaborate with all units within INVO and CalPERS

• Agility with Microsoft Applications Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and particularly Excel

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
