Investment Officer III

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Sources, negotiates, and closes investments that satisfy the PE program’s investment strategy

• Coordinate the activities of IO II, IO I and other CalPERS staff critical to the evaluation and execution of new investments

• Works with the Research, Analytics and Performance (RAP) area and the Investment Management Group (IMG) to generate investment ideas that feed PE’s planning processes

Minimum Requirements and Experience:

• Equivalent to graduation from college preferably with major work in business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, or a closely related field.

• Five years of increasingly responsible investment analysis experience for a public agency or private financial institution, insurance company, pension fund, endowment fund, investment firm, real estate development and investment firm, or private corporation or entity having a major investment management program

Desirable Qualifications:

• Working towards a professional certification such as a CPA, CFA, MFE, ASA/FSA

• Detail-oriented

• Experience using Microsoft products, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• Ability to work independently and under short time constraints

• Knowledge, skill and experience researching, analyzing, and reporting

• Effective writing skills

• Team-oriented, excellent communication skills

• Demonstrated flexibility, dependability, and adaptability to a changing work environment
