Job Summary
Legg Mason Investment Counsel (LMIC) is seeking an Investment Operations Analyst to join the team. The position is based in our Baltimore office. The Investment Operations Analyst position combines the typical operations roles within an investment advisory firm with support of our team of Portfolio Managers through various special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Daily position and transaction reconciliation between LMIC’s Portfolio Accounting System (Advent’s APX) and custodian banks.
- Process corporate actions for securities held including cash and stock dividends, splits, mergers and acquisitions
- Setup and maintenance of security master data
- Setup and maintenance of account data
- Calculation, reconciliation analysis of performance data
- Produce analysis for monthly quarterly reporting
- Support the creation of monthly and quarterly client reports in a timely and accurate fashion
- Support of LMIC’s investment management portfolio analysis systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or related area.
- 1-3 years applicable industry experience.
- General financial instruments knowledge (equities, fixed income, options, swaps, futures, foreign exchange) within both the domestic and global security markets.
- Strong analytical skills, service oriented, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organization skills and attention to detail, self-motivated and able to multi-task in an independent and timely manner.
- Dependable, accurate and conscientious with a strong sense of team effectiveness.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a desire for personal growth.
- Knowledge and familiarity with the financial markets.
- Polished written and oral communication skills.
- Prior experience with Advent suite of products a plus.
