ION Platform Architect

I am looking for an ION Architect on behalf of my Investment banking client.

The role would be a great fit for a Java/Unix developer with experience around ION Marketview/Anvil.
Strong development experience is needed with the mindset of becoming an architect looking after the long term build and design and strategy of the global ION Platform.

The team has responsibility for the performance, resilience, capacity and maintainability of the global ION platform. The platform supports a number of different business areas and provides connectivity to a number of Fixed Income electronic markets supporting quoting, trading and trade feed. It comprises approximately 2000 components (processes) intercommunicating world wide and is based on the Marketview platform from ION Trading.

This is a development team (not Support) and and work closely with both the applications development teams and the support teams.

duties cover providing architectural guidance, standards, libraries and tooling for both applications development and support.
Key skills:
• unix/linux command line,
• programming (preferably Java),
• scripting (shell, perl, possibly python),
• SQL,
• personal communication skills

Desirable skills:
• ION Marketview Experience
• Distributed and multitasking systems
• networks
• Sybase
• Oracle

A key requirement is the right attitude – to want to get the system performant, resilient etc and develop process that will ensure that the system stays that way. i.e proactively looking for the best ways to do things and having the drive to follow them through.

Personal communication and interaction skills are also very important as we have to encourage engagement with the development and support teams to get their input and buy-in; we need to be able to enthuse them to do things 'the right way'.

The successful candidate should be able to work with a degree of autonomy, be able to plan and execute projects whilst also providing guidance and assistance to the offshore team.
