IPV Manager / VP – Cross-asset classes recruitment
My client is looking for a candidate who has worked in as either a Product Controller or in IPV who is looking to move away from a pure line role. The specialist Valuations group acts as a global centre of excellence on valuation issues across the full suite of products traded by this Tier one bank in various locations. The main focus of the team is on methodology and its application globally across products. You will work to analyse and better existing valuation processes which are in place and enhance valuation methodologies as a whole.
The role:
- Develop and implement expanded analysis to provide increased challenge and assurance over the IPV process operated globally
- Develop and implement an IPV process leveraging collateral information to cover all asset classes globally
- Identify alternative pricing and information sources and implement for use within the IPV process.
- Develop and implement additional valuation techniques to provide alternative ways of viewing independent data and desk marks.
- Develop and implement processes to identify and investigate higher risk positions such as concentrated holdings.
- Develop and implement techniques and metrics to measure liquidity and to provide a link to IPV work in this respect.
Candidates welcome to apply:
- A relevant MSc and / or PhD would be useful
- Accountancy qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- Experience in an Investment Bank, working in a relevant control function (Product Control, IPV, Risk Control). Front Office experience, although less directly relevant, will also be considered.
- Working knowledge or derivatives pricing models.
- Strong product knowledge in at least one major asset class. This must include an understanding of both theoretical model related valuation issues as well as practical issues faced in implementation including current market practice.
- Experience of the IPV, including the price-testing and reserving of unobservable or illiquid valuation parameters, i.e. the need for a pragmatic approach that can bridge the gap between theory and practice, producing a quantification of the valuation uncertainty.
- Strong data analysis skills acquired, for example, through research in an experimental science.
- Technical skills (e.g. use of Excel and Analytic libraries to prototype new processes) would be useful.
- Experience of managing small teams and projects through to completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – an ability to deal with a number of different areas within the Bank to achieve prompt resolution of issues.
