Job Purpose:

Principal Accountabilities:
- Contribute as a member of the Management team to the overall management and direction of IT, to ensure that the Organization’s corporate and regional strategies are supported and short, medium and long term goals and objectives are established, communicated and achieved to optimize business results and returns shareholders.
- Direct the development and agreement to the annual plan for IT Department and associated budget based on investment requirements (short-term and long-term), monitor performance against this, initiating corrective action where necessary to ensure operations are conducted within the agreed financial parameters.
- Define strategy for Technology Department in line with overall strategy and objectives of the organization to ensure that the Company’s has best practice IT solutions and infrastructure in operation
- Plan and establish basic organization structure and key work processes for the Technology Department. Investigate client needs and design robust, innovative, and customizable IT platforms that help maximise the efficiency, quality, timeliness and convenience of warehousing, logistics, and freight forwarding transactions.
- Remain abreast of new technological development in order to recommend and implement new technical alternatives/solutions that would address the evolving needs of the organisation and business partners.
- Engage as executive sponsor with key customers as determined by Commercial Manager
- Study and evaluate vendor proposals for key projects, negotiate with vendors, make decisions on outsourcing certain areas in big projects (e.g. physical support in major projects) to decide the best option for the organization.
- Establish and manage effective relationships with customers, vendors and business partners and seek inputs for improvement in technology and services provided.
- Ensure that IT department is well staffed, with the requisite numbers and calibre of staff to meet its objectives and that they are developed and motivated and encouraged to maximise their capability and contribution.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
- Degree in a Commercial discipline and additional qualification in Advanced Business Management (MBA) and / PR Degree in Computer Science preferable.
- Strong business acumen, driver of performance and sound project/people management skills
- Proven track record of successfully managing IT operations in a complex organization.
- Well developed, commercial and negotiating skills and in depth knowledge of the industry
- 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years at management level.
- High level of customer service skills with a friendly, easy going and approachable style.
- Effective English communication (written and oral) with the ability to communicate to all employee groups.
- Self starter, self organized and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.
- Strong PC hardware and software skills are required (Microsoft Windows XP, Office 2003, Outlook, Internet Explorer and others)
