Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced IT Program Manager who will be responsible for a project in excess of $30M. This project, which is expected to last approximately 5 years, is a highly complex and enterprise-wide. The project includes managing all aspects of the design, development and implementation of programs. Candidate will provide expertise in Program/Project Management Processes for the following critical tasks. This is a hand's on role located in Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities:
- Develop/create and support the PMO artifacts and process throughout the entire project
- Develop and make presentations across a wide range of audiences and must be able to facilitate meetings
- Provide status reports across the portfolio of projects (20-40)
- Update and maintain Gantt Charts
- Maintain issues and risk logs
- Lead, mentor and gain buy-in from individuals at all levels of the organization with opposing viewpoints.
- Communicate effectively to individuals at all levels of the organization verbally, in writing, and through enterprise project management tools.
- Provide training to Project Managers on new policies and procedures (including PMI Best Practices and use of EPM).
- Utilize Microsoft EPM 2007, MS Project Professional and provide general level support for Project managers who will be using these tools.
- Promote and support use of PMO policies and process standards. Monitor the effectiveness of the policies and procedures and make recommendations to improve the overall Project Management process.
- Lead and assume responsibility for: Scope management, Risk management, Quality management, Issues management, Communication management, Reporting, resource allocation, scheduling.
- Perform audit and quality control of project deliverables and reporting on progress and quality of the deliverables.
- Implement organization efficiencies and effectiveness
Job Requirements:
- Resource must have 10 - 15 years of hands-on project/program management experience, including 5-7 years hands-on project management experience from project initiation to implementation using formal project management methodologies and processes.
- Resource must have 3- 5 years' experience establishing a large scale/enterprise PMO for a technology development group.
- Experience with budget and expenditure tracking for projects over $5M
- Experience in an Airline and/or Travel-related industry
- Strong background in the development of PMO artifacts and processes
- Proficiency using Microsoft Project 2007/2010 and experience using MS EPM 2007/2010 and SharePoint.
- Experience training project managers on project management best practices as defined in PMI's Project Management Book of Knowledge.
- Significant experience in technology management, analysis and administration.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders with evidence of willingness and ability to express and protect departmental interests.
- Demonstrated ability in applying strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrated effective communicator and writer, able to tailor message to receiving audience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience using MS Project Office Professional and MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
- PMP certification or Graduate Certification Preferred. Consideration will be made for highly qualified candidates possessing alternate degree/certification/experience.
