Job Description Overview

The IT Support Specialist contributes as a member of the Ariba IT Operations department and is part of the team responsible for the Information Technology infrastructure in Pittsburgh, PA and remote support for all Ariba global offices including laptop and desktop support.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Ariba IT Support Specialist is part of the team responsible for maintaining the Information Technology infrastructure for Ariba offices throughout the world. Responsibilities include providing support for Ariba’s information technology environment and working on IT Operations infrastructure projects either independently or in conjunction with other IT personnel. This support will be mainly done from Ariba’s location in Pittsburgh, but occasional travel to Ariba’s other locations may be required.

The primary duties of the IT Support Specialist are as follows:

·         Telephone, drop-in and ticket-based (Help.ariba.com) support for employees needing help with technical issues.

·         Install and customize Intel/Windows platform desktops and laptops.

·         Perform hardware repairs and software configuration modifications where possible and coordinate vendor repairs when appropriate.  

·         Troubleshoot miscellaneous IT Operations issues.

·         Work on Information Technology infrastructure development projects as a project team member.

·         Must be available for shift work – day swing.

·         Be a member of a rotating and on-call staff schedule.

Basic Minimum Qualifications

·         BS in Computer Science/Information Systems/MIS, or equivalent

·         2+ years of relevant experience in a structured technical environment


Preferred Qualifications

 

·         Must have excellent customer service skills and be an effective communicator.

·         Must be able to work with limited supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem solving.

·         Must have a well-rounded technical background with 2-3 years experience in managing image install software (Symantec Ghost), Windows XP, Microsoft Office Applications, Symantec Anti-virus. 

·         A+ certification and MCSE certification a plus.

·         Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and on projects with a diverse scope.

·         Must be available for 24x7 support, be a team player, and be willing to travel occasionally.
