Java Developer – Equity Finance – 6 Month Contract recruitment

Role description:

• A senior developer role within a global Equity Finance development team focusing on Nomura's in-house Front Office trading systems.

• Development items will range from large scale build outs including business on barding ventures and establishing 3 Tier application layers, to small enhancement and Punchlist items.

• Being able to interact with the trading community to accurately gather and capture the project's requirements is a necessity.

• Solutions must be provided in a timely manner with development progress well communicated to management and key stakeholders. As a competitive Front Office system, it is essential deliverables are mindful of performance and resource usage.

• Each developer is expected to adhere to the company's change management policy and work alongside the various support teams as part of the implementation process. Both Front Office applications developed by the group are global and house both regional domestic and international businesses.

• As result the system has a very limited maintenance window so releases are sometimes performed outside of business hours to minimise risk.

• The team spans a number of regions so the candidate must be mindful of other cultures and able to co-ordinate with different time zones.

Key objectives critical to success:

• Ability to analyse complex scenarios from both a technical and business perspective and deliver a solid solution

• Ability to deliver to deadlines in a environment where multiple competing requirements are a part of the job

• Strong ownership ethos, ensuring that development items are owned front to back and followed through to completion.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

• Java, Swing, SQL, Sybase, UNIX Shell ,RMI, ANT

• Preferable but not essential: JBoss, Spring, Hibernate and Caching experience.

• Prior experience of application development in a banking environment.

• Equity Finance business knowledge a distinct advantage.

• Experience of working in a front office environment would be a major plus

• Experience of managing stakeholder expectation and coordinating globally
