SENIOR COMPLIANCE MANAGER (COMPLIANCE MONITORING) recruitment
The job holder has compliance responsibilities for the FSA regulated subsidiaries of the Company. Specifically, to ensure that each firm establishes and maintains effective and adequate Systems and Controls to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and legal requirements and standards and adheres to market practice where appropriate. The primary purpose of the role is to undertake Compliance Monitoring of the regulated entities so as to provide assurance to the relevant governing bodies that compliance risk is being managed within the Group’s stated appetite. The job holder will also be expected to conduct a review of the compliance department’s own policies and procedures and risk framework.
Core Responsibilities:
- To define, manage and oversee a risk based Compliance Monitoring Universe and to own and deliver an Annual Compliance Monitoring Plan that reflects changes to business and regulatory developments.
- To conduct Compliance Monitoring visits to each regulated entity and where appropriate their outsourced operations in line with the Annual Compliance Monitoring Plan or on an ad hoc basis as required.
- To produce relevant reports to senior management detailing the findings of the monitoring reviews.
- Agree action plans with local management to remedy any deficiencies detected in the course of the monitoring work and to review those action plans identifying any issues or shortfalls and driving the changes required of the business.
- Where required, participate in management meetings of the regulated subsidiaries.
- Ensure that all applicable regulatory authorisations and any licence registrations are monitored and kept up to date.
- Advising on and monitoring on an ongoing basis of all compliance issues relating to products to be launched, managed and / or distributed by the companies as required.
- Maintaining, and keeping up to date knowledge and understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the firm.
- Understand in detail the products and operational aspects of the regulated subsidiaries of the Company.
- Maintaining appropriate records as required by the relevant regulations and departmental procedures.
- To contribute towards the Group’s commitment towards TCF.
- To deal with Data Protection issues arising in the business and from compliance monitoring.
- To assist with the oversight of Subject access requests.
- Daily and other regular monitoring of investment trading activities to ensure that they comply with the limits, terms and conditions of the relevant account for which they are undertaken, as well as all applicable rules and regulations and to advise on and review any actions required.

- Ensuring effective systems and controls for countering the risk that the firm might be used to further financial crime including money laundering are in place.
- Provide independent challenge to the business view of the compliance framework.
- Responsible for regular reporting to senior management on compliance matters and for making recommendations to senior management on how any issues arising should be managed.
- The job holder is responsible for promoting compliance awareness amongst staff and to identify weaknesses and recommend procedures to improve compliance, risk management and controls.
- Responsible for reviewing and updating on an ongoing basis all compliance policies and procedures in accordance with any rule changes/business practices applicable to the firm.
- The job holder is accountable to the Head of Compliance.
- The job holder must observe high ethical standards, of Practice, and the Company principles on Corporate Governance.
- Accuracy and clarity is required in all reports, and in information given to regulators.

- First rate communication skills, it is essential that the job holder can communicate effectively on paper and in presentations, making the complex simple.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- A commercial focus.
- The job holder must have the courage not only to raise the compliance issue, but to enforce the policies as necessary.
- High levels of personal integrity and sensitivity in dealing with confidential matters are required.
Core Requirements:
- Preferably educated to University standard.
- A recognised industry or Compliance qualification preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of FSA legislation, rules and guidelines with the ability to apply that knowledge on a commercial basis whilst maintaining compliance.
- At least 5 years compliance experience from asset management, fund houses, and/or securities background and/or retail investment product knowledge.
- Strong industry knowledge.
- First hand experience in liaising and dealing with regulators.
- Experience of operating at Management Committee level within a regulated business.
