Position Description:
AGS on behalf of RBS represents contract and temporary opportunities for RBS MIB (Markets and International Banking). We have an outstanding contract opportunity for a Market Risk Senior Java Developer to make their mark with one of the world's largest international banking and financial services companies. In the role of a Market Risk Senior Java Developer, you will play an integral role in helping our client deliver market leading services that set it apart from its competitors.
Current/Recent experience of Java SWING Dev of Market Risk applications AND sybase is MANDATORY . Its the essence of the role so please only apply if you have valid expertise.
The role is for a senior JAVA SWING developer with strong knowledge of Market Risk to work on a number of Market Risk Java/Sybase applications.
The successful candidate will work with the project managers and application owners to:
- Analyse and develop/enhance existing functionality on a number of Java/Sybase based applications, ensuring a common approach is adopted and enhanced as requirements evolve.
- Analyse and work towards continually improving applications efficiencies.
They will be responsible for enhancements and working closely with other developers within market risk to ensure that the components are integrated appropriately with the existing applications in Market Risk Technology.
Deliverables
Well designed, documented, tested and suitable code delivered to Production environment that satisfies business requirements and expectations including changes to existing applications and components

Desired Skills Experience
Essential Experience: (Must have skills)
Business knowledge
- Market risk management systems and business.
Good understanding of products traded within an investment banks
Technical knowledge
- In-depth technical knowledge of Java (at least v1.5) server side and Swing.
- Experience of SVN
- Strong SQL and stored procedures skills in Sybase.
- Experience in dealing with large data volumes in a Data Caching/Grid environment
